‘Bad Penny’ competes at OneCloudFest

Anyone for a vaudeville romp in Whitechapel? If so check out my music video ‘Bad Penny’ which is in the Winter Finals at OneCloudFest, the first ever facebook festival. We scooped the Festival Favourite Tropy back in the summer and it is currently sitting on the mantle piece glinting in the sunshine. Nice. This is what the Festival had to say about us: “A folk-punk vibe, quirky instruments, and a dash of burlesque – all with a Vaudevillian flair. What’s not to love?”

Nierka to premiere at Peacock Theatre in January

I am currently working on a feature documentary about Nierka, a stunning show mixing dance, music, visuals and some pretty wild lighting effects, set to premiere at the Peacock Theatre (Sadlers Wells) on 14 January 2012. It’s at the theatre for 3 nights only, so if you are interested in coming tickets are selling fast! It’s a unique piece, so I hope you can make it.

If not, you can watch the documentary from the comfort of your sofa later this year. Here is the trailer for the documentary we are currently working on, exploring behind the scenes of this ambitious project; which grew from a kernel of an idea to a 100-strong crew of technicians and creatives from 23 different nationalities! The ‘Gents’: Official Selection at London Short Film Festival

The London Short Film Festival has just announced its 2012 programme and I’m delighted to say that ‘Gentlemen in Squalor’ has been selected! Last year my vaudeville romp ‘Bad Penny’ scooped the Radar Award for Best Music Video. No pressure then. Music & Video will be screening on Thursday 12 January at the Roxy: one for the diary! The London Short Film Festival runs from 6-15 January 2012 across various venues.

UK Film Festival (ever so chic)

‘Gentlemen in Squalor’ is part of the official selection at the UK Film Festival taking place next week. We will be screening on Wednesday 14 December at the ever so chic Aubin Cinema, Shoreditch House. The screening will be followed by a Q&A, awards ceremony and drinks party.

Renderyard spells vineyard

Continuing this month’s Spanish theme, ‘Gentlemen in Squalor’ will be screening at the Renderyard Film Festival in La Rioja. In a bid to see one of seven wonders of the world, the Guggenheim Museum, and sample some local wine, I will flying out to Bilbao to represent the film. I will also be participating in a music video panel on Friday, together with directors from Spain and the US.

November is officially ‘Spanish month’ with not one but two major film festivals selecting ‘Gentlemen in Squalor’ for their official programme. First up is Madrid, where the video will screen at ALCINE. During its 36 year history, the Alcalá de Henares / Comunidad de Madrid film festival (ALCINE) has grown into one of Spain’s most important film competitions.

The ‘Gents’ visit York (ASFF)

‘Gentlemen in Squalor’ will be screening at the inaugural Aesthetica Short Film Festival, taking place 3-6 November. The festival, the first to be hosted in the historic city of York, was created by Arts magazine Aesthetica. I’ll be heading up to York to enjoy some films and of course the mighty Minster! ‘Only in Belfast’ TV spots

I’ve just returned from Northern Ireland where I shot a series of broadcast commercials for the ‘Only in Belfast’ campaign led by creative agency Ardmore Advertising. Despite Belfast’s reluctance to provide me with a ‘magic hour’, I had a great time filming with the team at Street Monkey and producer Mark ‘the man’ Mearns. The ads will be aired in the run-up to Christmas.
